Goals

Goals. We all have them. How do you set yours? Me, lists. I write lists. Long daydreamy type of lists. More often than not these goals or lists are a sort of mixed media art form. Half sharpie, quarter dull pencil and the last bit something that bleeds into an abstract watercolor so much so that the goal no longer exists. They take root in a ratty notebook, sprouting up in pages mixed with other types of lists, kids schedules, reminders and items I’d like to buy when I win the lottery. Does this sound familiar to you?

When Tiny Fields began, my goals became clear, more precise. Make a wind break with nine bark, propagate Harmari Gold dahlia, weed the peony patch….The farm grounded me in structure and routine. And, mother nature kept me on my toes. While the farm anchored me, it also physically consumed me. Many nights you could find my family and I having a board night for supper. A night where we hope to find some pickled items in jars in our refridgerator, put them on a cutting board with whatever produce hasn’t gone bad and hope the bakery in town still has a baguette. It’s funny how those meals made of exhaustion become a regular request from my kids. I digress. My dear friend, Casey, would say….typical 9 behaviour. Enneagram anyone?

So, here I am. Years later. Reminding myself of that highlighted item on one of my many lists. Write about the farm. Add a blog to Tiny Fields website. Be vulnerable, overshare. Let’s see if I can keep it up.
